Spent the afternoon in a village that could be in #midsomermurders Lunch at the local pub then a walk on the green (which had a rounders pitch marked out and the 80m dash) to the duck pond. Cute duckings but crazy ducks! Sadly didnt get it on camera but witnessed a massive chase... One female duck chased the length of the pond, through the reeds, out on the grass quacking as loud as she could as if saying 'get away' at which point two other males joined the chase. She ran near to the pop up fairground, then round to the other side of the pond again until she was reunited with her ducklings. The late coming males gave up and an older looking grandpa duck observed the chaos in dismay. He couldn't be bothered with these pursuits. The initial male strutted back, his confidence not knocked, looking at other females. He approached one...the wrong one. She quaked and chased and pecked at him until he slipped back into the pond and swam away. As if she was the sticking up for the female he'd chased earlier.
